Rather than being tied to whatever comes off one patch of ground, we work with a spread of established growers and feed mills up and down the UK. Different regions, different cuts, different specialities, which means we can match you to the right forage or feed instead of the only forage we’ve got.
We build proper relationships with our suppliers. We know how they make their hay, how they store it, and whether they’re the sort we want to put our name behind.
Our network reaches overseas, too: we import premium timothy and alfalfa hay from Canada and the USA, where the dry climate produces exceptionally clean, consistent forage that performance yards ask for by name.
We choose the loads, and check them.
Not every bale is created equal, so we don’t buy blind. Loads are selected on colour, smell, leafiness and how they’ve been made and kept, then quality‑checked again before they head out to you.
If a load isn’t right, it doesn’t become your problem. The whole point of buying through a merchant is that someone’s already done the sorting.
Kept dry, kept clean, kept right.
Good hay can be ruined by bad storage. We keep stock under cover and off the ground, with air around it, so what leaves us is in the same condition as when we approved it, not damp, dusty or heating in a stack.
Proper storage is also what lets us hold supply through the year, so you’re not scrambling when a wet summer squeezes the market.
